Submission Guidelines
Read this before you pitch.
Original Work Only
We only accept original, unpublished pitches. Work that has appeared elsewhere — in print, online, or on personal blogs — will not be considered. All submissions must be exclusive to ACE.
Know Your Audience
ACE readers are culturally curious, professionally ambitious adults aged 25–45. Write with authority and specificity. Avoid generic takes — we want stories that only you could tell.
Pitch, Don't Submit Full Drafts
Send us a 2–3 paragraph pitch explaining your story idea, why it matters now, and why you're the right person to write it. Include a working headline and your estimated word count.
Include a Writing Sample
Attach a published or unpublished writing sample (500–2,000 words) that best represents your voice and style. Portfolio links are also welcome.
Response Time
Our editorial team reviews all submissions within 3–4 weeks. Due to volume, we can only respond to pitches we're moving forward with. If you haven't heard from us in 30 days, feel free to pitch elsewhere.
Compensation
ACE pays competitive rates for accepted work. Rates vary by publication, word count, and assignment type. We'll discuss compensation when we reach out about your pitch.
